Do Disneyland While Pregnant

How tD

Disneyland Pregnant

Now if you are like me, than you LOVE Disneyland and I was not about to let me being pregnant get in the way of our vacation.  Though I realized it would not be the same as usual, I had to figure out a way to make things work for me so that I was not only comfortable but having fun!

Here is how I made our Disneyland vacation still amazing, even though I was pregnant.

1.  Now first off I wanted to make sure that I was still going to be able to enjoy myself, not just sit alone outside of every ride while everyone else was having a blast.

So I looked online at Disneyland attractions list, as well as the California Adventure attractions list. I was excited to find that I could ride a majority of the rides, so instead of list the rides I was able to ride, I will give the short list of rides I could not ride.

2.  Since I was 6 months pregnant with twins, I knew that I was not going to be able to walk for the entire three day trip, so I started looking into alternatives.

First I considered a wheelchair, but then I realized the inconvenience that would create for my husband, having to push me around everywhere we went.

So then I looked into renting a motorized scooter (also known as ECV electric convenience vehicles).  Disneyland does have these EVC's for rent, but at a steep price of $50 a day plus $20 refundable deposit.  So you are looking at $70 a day, and it is a first come, first serve basis.  The last thing that you want to do is get to Disneyland and then find there are none available.

So after doing some research I decided to rent a scooter/ECV from an outside company.

The company I choose was Apple Scooters based in Anaheim.

They were GREAT, not only was the rental price very reasonable, $85 for 3 days, that price included pickup, delivery, and insurance.
The scooter was delivered to our motel the day before I had rented it, so that the next morning it was there, charged, and ready.
(Oh yeah, and the basket was included, believe it or not, some companies charged extra for a basket)
Not to mention this thing lasted all day and into the night, and barely used any battery life.  Trust me this was well used during the trip and never had any problems.
Apple Scooters also offers in park assistance, if you were to break down.
Then because we had checked out of our hotel room and drove to Disneyland the last day, he allowed me to drop off my scooter at the Grand Californian hotel in Downtown Disney, then from there we were able to hop on the tram and get in our car and go home.

3. Once you get to Disneyland go to City Hall or
Guest Relations in California Adventure and check to see about an Auxiliary Entrance pass.
If you are very far along they will usually give it to you, based on the fact you may not be able to stand for long periods of time in line. The pass is good for you and up to 5 people in your party.  It allows you to stand in the shorter Auxiliary line or in some cases get a Fast Pass like ticket to come back and enjoy the ride at a specific time later that day.  If you end up renting a scooter or wheelchair, many of the entrances allow you to ride it in and then you can sit while you wait.  Now not all pregnant women need this, but some do, and if you feel that is you, it's worth checking out, nothing is more important than taking care of yourself while pregnant.

4. What to do when you can't ride the ride
Well in my case we went with some great friends of ours who had a little girl that was not big enough for all the rides.  When that was the case I would often take her to do something we could both do, like smaller rides, or visit characters.   If that is not the case in your situation, take the time to find some shade and put your feet up, you will be glad you did.

5. Now even though I rode a scooter, at the end of the day my ankles were still swollen and achy, so make sure to pack an ice pack and heating pad to elevate your feet at the end of the day.

6.Check out the Map and do a search for all the restrooms :)

5.  Disneyland allows you to bring in your own food and drinks, so take advantage of this and pack lots of snacks and water to drink, staying hydrated while pregnant is so important.

6. Just because you're pregnant does not mean you can't still kick butt! (That's my score on the left)
